How to Play
NextScan is a daily imaging-appropriateness game. A fictional patient is at a decision point in their care — your job is to order the single most appropriate imaging study right now. Sometimes the right order is no imaging at all.
Rules
- Every day at midnight (Toronto time) a new case is released. Everyone gets the same case.
- You start with the presentation and clinical setting.
- Search the imaging-order catalog and place an order — contrast and protocol matter.
- Each reconsidered order reveals more context (patient factors, prior imaging, findings) that narrows the correct choice, up to five clues.
- Your score is the number of clues you needed, out of five.
- After the case ends you’ll see the recommended order, why alternatives are less appropriate, and radiation/contrast considerations.
Archive
Every previously released requisition stays available in the Order History. Archive play counts toward cases played, but only completing the daily case on its day maintains your streak.
Accounts
No account is needed to play — guest progress stays in this browser. A free Rounds account keeps streaks and statistics in sync everywhere, and works on every Rounds game.
Education only
All cases are fictional teaching material. Nothing here is clinical advice.
